Susep wants insurance benefits for less-favored classes
The Private Insurance Superintendence (Susep, Superintendência de Seguros Privados) wants to introduce into the life insurance market 10 out of 36 million Brazilians that make up classes C, D and E. This will create a social protection network, since families will be covered in case of the loss of the individual who supports them. |

Water, in the name of God
An initiative of the Brazilian National Bishops Conference (CNBB, Conferência Nacional dos Bispos do Brasil), the Fraternity Campaign that has taken place since 1964, has as its focus in 2004 the theme “water, source of life.” The first concrete result was the creation of the Water Defender’s Office, with the support of the Federal Department of Justice and the participation of non-governmental organizations and the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro.

Castor oil plant stimulates social inclusion
To produce, starting with a castor oil plant, a renewable fuel, which is less pollutant than oil by-products in addition to providing jobs, income, land, food and dignified life conditions for more than 11,000 families. This is Brasil Ecodiesel’s project that began to be defined in March, in Piauí, one of the regions in Brazil with the lowest social indicators. |

Klabin: partnership with the environment
In 1998, Klabin’s environment preservation philosophy and practices were proven when it became the first company in the Southern Hemisphere, in the paper and cellulose sector, to receive the FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certification. Klabin was also the first company in the world to have non-timber forest products certified by the FSC. |
